Specialty - Fertility Reflexology
Fertility treatment programme for Natural Conception or Medically Assisted Conception (IUI, IVF, ICSI, Donor Sperm/Eggs)
Helps you to conceive and also prepares your body for pregnancy.
The fertility reflexology programme is designed around your menstrual cycle with different techniques applied depending on where you are in your cycle.
Fertility Reflexology is accepted as standard practice in many Fertility Clinics in Ireland. Many Endocrinologists suggest reflexology as a therapy to help control Cortisol Levels in the body. This major stress hormone has been shown to affect reproduction in multiple ways. It interferes with the surge of luteinizing hormone(LH) from the pituitary, delaying it and making the surge less powerful. LH is responsible for the final development of the follicle into the corpus luteum and the release of the egg. This has many negative impacts on healthy ovulation and on the hormones required to sustain implantation.
The programme also includes very important Nutritional & Lifestyle advise.

-
Anxiety
Priming for Labor is a protocol unique to the Reflexology profession.
In fact, your midwife or obstetrician may recommend a couple sessions of reflexology to full term or post-dates patients before scheduling a medical induction.
Reflexology promotes easier birthing. Studies in the UK have showed that the effects of Reflexology on labour outcomes were outstanding. It promotes shorter labour times & less pain relief is needed.
One of the most exciting studies was carried out in 2010/2011 on 100 mums in the West Midlands. This showed that reflexology did help women to deliver. A team of obstetricians, midwives and reflexologists worked together to offer reflexology to see if labour could be induced before or after a membrane sweep. This pilot study showed a decreased need for pain relief, decreased lengths of first and second stages of labour and increased satisfaction for Mum.
To get best results, regular treatments throughout pregnancy are recommended.
Specialty - Postnatal Reflexology
An extremely special bonding treatment for both Mum & Bub.
Supports major postpartum changes as the body recovers from the pregnancy & labor and adjusts to its new demands.
This session also includes light touch reflexology for baby which is very effective in soothing discomforts such as colic, wind, constipation, blocked nose, congested ears & teething
Specialty - Reflexology for Cancer Care
Reflexology does not claim to cure cancer but it does provide relief from cancer-related symptoms such as pain, nausea, lethargy and anxiety.
It also aids post-op recovery.
Reflexology treatments can be tailored around each individual depending on what part of the journey they are on. For example treatments can be tailored to help you cope with side-effects of chemotherapy such as nausea, constipation and exhaustion.
In the medical field of Oncology an increasing number of consultants are recognising the benefits of reflexology.
In a controlled U.S. study with 87 patients, Hodgson (2000) found 100% improvement in the reflexology group in quality of life categories of appearance, appetite, breathing, communication (with doctors, family, nurses), concentration, constipation/diarrhea, fear of future, isolation, mobility, mood, nausea, pain, sleep/tiredness.
For your own informational purposes, Recovery Haven in Tralee offers reflexology sessions as part of it's Cancer Support Service.
